DEBORA BLANCHARD
Debora Blanchard is the mother of three grown children; Derek, Monique and
Antinett, and grandmother of two; Diego and Ember. She was born in San Mateo, California but grew up in Denver, Colorado. Her Grandmother and Aunt taught her about the love of Christ as a child. They were Sunday school teachers. “From the
Bible stories they shared I learned very young how much Jesus loves me.”

After a devastating divorce she turned to drugs to fit into a dis-functional world and numb the pain. Knowing that she needed help, she voluntarily admitted herself into detox. Someone left a card on a table from the shelter. God, in His goodness, led her to Liza’s Place in the winter of 2005. She graduated the program in early spring of 2006 and has working as the Volunteer Coordinator since the summer of 2007. She is now enrolled at Nazarene Bible College to become a Christian counselor. “I spend time with my Father every day and am more blessed than anyone I know.
I truly am His favorite."

LINDA RUACHO
In 2003 I was bound by an addiction to methamphetamines.  I was in trouble with the law and sentenced to Crossroads in Pueblo.  After doing the six weeks there I was released and continued to use drugs and failed the drug test that I was court ordered to do.  Probation again sentenced me to another program. Liza’s Place was one of the programs on the list, this time I needed a 6 month program.  Even though I was in trouble with probation, I refused to believe I had a problem.  After being in the home and attending the Bible Studies, I started seeing what a problem I had.  As time went on and as I was sober long enough to think about the mistakes I made over the last 2 years, I REALIZED THAT IT WAS IN NEED OF A PROBLEM.

By the end of my six month stay I got baptized and got grounded in a church and have not looked back since.  I now have 6 years clean still attending church and discipleship classes as well as witnessing to the women at Liza’s Place.  I have also been working in management for the last few years and have a husband, two grown children and 4 grandchildren that I love dearly.

NANCY DACE
Nancy came to Liza’s Place in September 2008.  She was not familiar with what the program was all about.  It didn’t take long to see that she really needed this program.

After moving to Colorado and not working in her field any longer with the mentally ill, she was just working and taking care of herself.  With her children grown and living in Illinois, she really felt free on one hand and lonely on the other.  She began partying with friends and not caring about what tomorrow brought.  She had stopped going to church and reading the Word:.  “I believed in God, I thought that was enough, “ says Nancy.

Liza’s Place gave her the opportunity to redirect herself on the right path.  With all of our wonderful Bible Study teachers, words from the other ladies and lots of prayer, she is focused on God and thanks him everyday for keeping His light on her.  Liza’s Place has been a real blessing.

Nancy worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections for years as a corrections officer.  She also worked with the mentally challenged .
